Every summer, Lake Tekapo lupins transform the landscape into beautiful shades of purple, pink and blue. Surrounded by the turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo and the Southern Alps, the lupin fields create one of the most iconic locations for a photoshoot in New Zealand.
The Lake Tekapo lupin season typically begins in late November and continues through December, although the exact timing and location of the flowers can vary each year depending on weather and growing conditions.
A Lake Tekapo lupin photoshoot is perfect for couples, families, maternity sessions and travellers looking to capture their New Zealand adventure. During your session, I’ll help you find the best available lupin locations around Lake Tekapo and create natural, relaxed photographs surrounded by this incredible South Island scenery.
Because the lupin season in Lake Tekapo lasts for only a few weeks each year, photography sessions during November and December are limited.

You’re also welcome to send me photos of your outfit options before the session — I’ll be happy to help you choose what will photograph best.
As Lake Tekapo weather can change quickly, even in summer, I also recommend bringing a warm layer and comfortable footwear suitable for the location.

A 1-hour Lake Tekapo lupin photoshoot costs $550 and includes 50+ professionally edited high-resolution photographs, a private online gallery, guidance throughout your session and outfit recommendations before your photoshoot.
Professional video and drone photography can also be added for $200 each.
What happens if it rains on the day of our Lake Tekapo photoshoot?

Lake Tekapo weather can change quickly, so I monitor the forecast leading up to every session.
Light cloud or changing weather does not necessarily mean we need to cancel — it can actually create beautiful conditions for photography. If the weather makes the photoshoot unsafe or unsuitable, I’ll contact you to discuss the best available option.
How do I book a Lake Tekapo lupin photoshoot?
